“SLOSHERS” – RED PHILO

20 July, 2010 (16:13) | Sounds

“Way back in the early part of this millenium, there was a guy named Red, and a guy named Philo. They decided to try their hand at making some strage hybrid of hip hop/ country/ blues/ folk/ rock & roll/ they probably can’t even explain what the fuck it is. At any rate, they released one album entitled “the red philo project,” which enjoyed moderate success in the western North Carolina region. Those were the carefree days, when the future was bright, the beer was cold and cheap, and the weed wasn’t all that good but they had no idea how potent it could actually be. Years went by, and the two lost touch. However, about four years after the release of their first project, they ran into each other, slightly more mature, slightly more jaded, and not the least bit better off, financially speaking. They recorded two songs in this period. What you are about to listen to is the first of the duo. It is entitled “Sloshers,” and is a slightly drunken Philo’s narrative of a tour he & Harvy Murkelson did in the Northeast opening for GFE in the spring of 2006. Don’t even bother asking what Philo’s saying in the chorus, he can’t even figure it out, and he’s the one who said it. Enjoy.” -Philo
